A couple of days ago I decided to wear this awesome vintage dress I found in a flea market in the Dominican Republic. I seriously love everything about this dress, the sleeves, the print and the collar just do it for me! It was originally below the knees and I just hemmed it to make it a little shorter, Oh and did I mention I got it for one of the equivalent of $1.50! SCORE!

I've been home for a couple days now and seeing these pictures makes me want to go back to that warm weather and have the beaches just a couple of minutes away. I've only been here for 3 days but so far I've visited family and met new little members. I've shopped at some of the markets that are filled with great vintage pieces and I've eaten soo much yummy food! Hope everyone is having a nice week so far, and studying hard for these weeks of finals! After receiving an 80 on my statistics test (yeah, i'm horrible at math so this is shocking!) This pencil skirt is such a dream! I was instantly reminded of a scene in The Holiday in which Cameron Diaz is wearing a very similar skirt. I have no idea why someone would want get rid of this beauty and it's by Zara! I seriously live for these kinds of finds! Aaah!

This is a very simple outfit consisting of one my favorite little black dresses. I bought this dress a couple of years ago and I love that I can still wear it and easily dress it up or down. That's the whole point of having a LBD right?! I'm sure I won't be getting rid of this one anytime soon.

Have you guys seen the movie Like Crazy yet? I saw it a couple of days ago and it was AMAZING. I went by myself and enjoyed every second of it. And yes i'll admit, it I cried! I usually never cry during movies and since I was alone I was all like "Oh what the heck! Just let them go, not trying to impress anyone here!" Have you ever gone to the movies by yourself? Was it a pleasant experience or will you never do it again?

A lot has changed since the last time I took pictures of my room as you can see HERE. So I decided to do a mini tour with the help of my friend Bryan. :)

My beloved 100 year old singer sewing machine.

When it's working it's magic it's louder than thunder but it works like a charm!

This record player was a gift to my dad a couple of years ago and later I found it in the basement! He said he didn't like the sound quality in which I totally disagree, so I decided to put it in my room and give it some much needed love. Rumours by Fleetwood Mac is one of my favorites albums!

My room is the upper part of my parents house and it's a converted attic. I love all the space I have and when i'm in the creating mood, it sure comes in handy.

I get most of my room decor at thrift stores, yard sales, antique shops and occasionally IKEA. I prefer decorating with old things because I like seeing the potential that these items may have and give them a new home and lots-a love!

Every Thursday we meet up at the F.I.T library in which we geek out, (try to) study and catch up on everything going on in our lives. I know it can seem pretty lame considering that we have the whole city to explore. But with the weather getting crazy cold again it's just nice to stay indoors and at the same time get some much needed work done!

Yesterday was a great example of a nice day here on Long Island. My friends and I decided to take some pictures at hiking trail by my house and it was tons of fun. We goofed around A LOT and poor Bryan got bit like crazy by mosquitos.

(I had no idea that they where still around here in October! What the heck?!)

Anyways, my friends and I always talk about how wonderful it was to grow up in Long Island because we've got awesome beaches and the beauties of places like Montaulk. OH and did I mention we have on of best cities in the world about an hour away!? How awesome is that?

I'm wearing a dress that my mom found recently at a yard sale,

she thought I would love it so she bought it for me. How very nice of her! I absolutely love the length of the dress and the awesome blue flower print on it. It would have been nicer if I would have gotten it in the summer because it has spaghetti straps but a little layering does the trick. I can't wait to figure out all the different ways to wear it!

Yesterday I got so lucky and found these awesome boots at a near by Salvation Army. They fit perfectly and they have never been used. They have the nicest gold detailing and the leather is an awesome shade of gray. Oh and did I mention they were only 6 bucks? SCORE!

I can't wait to wear them!

I leave you here with a band that I have been basically listening to every night (sometimes even at 4am when I cant fall asleep, I know it's not good... i'm working on it!). Peaking Lights has a wonderful album called 936 that is definetly worth checking out. The husband and wife duo make such wonderful music with instruments and effects handmade by themselves!

I bought this skirt last Winter and before it used to be down to ankles! I hemmed it a couple of months ago and really liked how it came out, i'm so excited that I get to finally wear it! The skirt is made out of wool and it has a really nice, unique print on it. What better way to wear it than with this wool hat I found at yard sale. I've been seeing a lot of girls around campus wearing these hats and they just look so marvelous in them, so glad that I found one for so cheap!

I bought this Free People dress/slip a couple of days ago for $20! Isn't it just wonderful? I think i'm in love! The boots are also new, I found them at H&M and i've just been wearing the heck out of them. They go with everything!

On another note:

I've been listening to the new Toro Y Moi album "Underneath the Pines" a lot recently. I know i'm a little late considering it's been out for sometime now but i'm so glad I decided to give it a more in depth listen! You should also if you haven't already!

I've been getting REALLY lucky at thrift stores recently.

I found this amazing leather back pack at Goodwill the other day for 12 bucks! My mom said I looked more excited about finding this back pack then getting my new Macbook! It's so beautiful and perfect. I had the biggest fucking smile on my face when I found it.

We're a going to be the best of friends this summer.

Also the Ralph Lauren shorts, shirt and polariod camera were all perfect finds today at Goodwill... now only if it was nice enough outside to actually wear all of this! (P.S. the undies and bralettes are from Aerie, simple 100% cotton is where it's at!)

I was in Urban Outfitters the other day and I walked past these curtains, I decided that I would try to make them. Since I was snowed in I wasn’t able to go to the fabric store to pick up some fabric so I asked my mom if she had some bed sheets that she wasn’t going to use. Thank god she did and was nice enough to give them to me! I thought it was going to be an easy task but to my surprise the curtains turned out to be a project of two days, and lots of work!

So I know I’ve been very absent from this blog lately

but it’s just that I’ve been busy with school projects and finals.

I know all my fellow college student could understand!

But I’m finally done with this semester and now I can get to things that I’ve been putting aside.

I’m planning on re-opening my Etsy shop in the upcoming days, which I’m very excited about but it’s not as easy as it looks. This time it’ll be A LOT better!

Have you ever dreamt of having your own little cabin in the woods? I sure have! Ever since I went on a camping trip to Pennsylvania when I was 12, I stayed in a cute little cabin with my closest friends and I just remember having a feeling of comfort and freedom there.

Oh how I wish I could be there right now!

Sometimes I like to just look at little houses that you would normally miss on any given day and I like to picture myself living in them. I would think about what I would change about the house or what I would keep the same. I know it sounds a little silly, But I’ve never been a fan of those huge houses that barely look lived in.

These are the new little additions to my room.. some thrifted some handmade.

These DIY button pillows

were very much inspired from this tutorial I found.

So easy and super cute!

And these pillows were made with some really old fabric that my friend gave me.

I just love the colors. They sure go well with my new obsession of all things green!

These are my beautiful Miu Miu mary janes that I wore to my prom! It was definetly worth the big price because unlike a prom dress, I get to wear these over and over again! I kept seeing the Miu Miu ss10 shoe collection all over the fashion blogs and I really couldn't wait for the opportunity to get my hands on a pair.

And as for the prom dress, I made it myselfe. It took a little longer than what I had expected, but it came out perfect. Just how I wanted it, nice and simple with a touch of vintage. My friend Jess had given me some of her grandmothers lace trimming she had found and once I saw it I fell in love!

We got a special tour that showed us some of the stuff that is in there storage and there were a lot of beautiful dresses and shoes that I fell in love with! Considering that I've been there a couple of times and this being a school field trip, I think we all had a good time, plus it was a beautiful day in the city!

Last weekend I went to Coachella.

I had an amazing time listening to great music under the desert sun.

I got to see some of my favorite bands play like Yeasayer, Local Natives, and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

There were many memorable performances that I wasn't anticipating like Jonsi of Sigur Ros, and the XX.. Oh how I wish I was there again!! I miss it so much I dont think I can wait another whole year!

p.s. Im featured in the Teen Vogue website! I was so happy when I saw this,

I started acting like a little 3 year old!

Last year at Coachella my picture was taken for a website also but I still have not been able to find that freakin picture.. oh well! hahaha

Last weekend Ashley and I took a little trip to Williamsburg, Brooklyn and we came across many things as always. We went into a store called JUNK and basically that's what they sold.. with a few exceptions. Ashley bought some jewelry and other things that I can't remember. I bought two old photographs dated 1944, a bow tie and both of us got some old albums for our dads.

I love Brooklyn so much! There's always so many things to do.. and I must say we cannot wait to live there together in a couple of years! But for now we'll just have to be content with our short visits there.

I went into the city last Saturday with my dad..

We did some shopping in Chelsea and we stopped by

the Museum of Modern Art. I wish we could have stayed there longer.

It was so much fun.

D.I.Y paper heart garland

Valentines Day is coming up and even though I'm not huge fan of this holiday (I'm sure I'm not the only one!) I made this cute garland yesterday (picture on the right) and it's very easy to make, all you need is some paper and string! So let's get to it!

Start off with 3 pieces of paper. I used some old newspaper, but you can use colorful construction paper, pages from an old book, printer paper, anything!

Then cut them into a shape of a heart. You can draw it first on the paper or just free hand it.

You should now have three hearts in the same size.

Next, fold each heart in half and glue one side of the heart to another half.

Then put glue on the two remaining sides and place the third heart on the sides with the glue on. And now you should have a 3D heart.

Now make a little hole on the upper part of the heart that will be big enough for your string to go through. You can use any type of string, I used pink embroidering string but I think yarn could do to!

And finally string the heart. Repeat this about 10 times try doing them in different sizes. And Viola now hang them anywhere!

And for your special Valentine just cut out a little letters spelling out anything and hot glue them onto the string.. it's a simple way of expression that is sure to impress.. and it's basically free!

Oh my we have a lot of catching up to do..

A couple of weeks a go it was my 18th birthday and to say the least it was very exciting,

I was surrounded by all the people I love and made getting a year older a lot more fun..

As for presents, I got many memorable gifts like a

jewelry making kit, a cool 60's inspired dress, books and more!

My dear friend Shirleen got me these cool headphones

that she knows I've been wanting forever!

One of the gifts that Ashley got me was this book with a little note
inside!

Shes been telling me all about this book so now I can't wait to finally read it!

From my parents I got these beautiful Anna Sui Boots that I've been wanting for the longest time.. there probably going to be the most expensive shoes I'm ever going to have

in my life so I reallyyy have to take care of them!

Recently I bought these black wedges from H&M that I just love!!

Over the past two days I've been snowed in,

we got tons of snow and no school

So by not getting out of my house I decided I would

Two weeks ago me Ashley and some other friends went to the Marc Jacobs store on Bleeker street to get some holiday shopping done but to my disappointment I just got a couple of things like key chains!

NOT what I had in mind..

So now I have to make another trip there soon to pick up a couple of more things..cute little door we saw while on line!

Say hello to my beautiful Christmas tree!!
I was was planing on doing it strictly black and white but my mom bought me mini Christmas trees in purple so I guess I had to incorporate that color into it.. I'm very happy with the way it came out, the lights, the hand made skirt, the ornaments it sure got me into the holiday spirit.
So by being randomly spurred with inspiration

Two weeks ago Ashley and I went to a Titanic museum

in the city with a couple of friends.

The museum was beautiful it had a bunch of artifacts and

a recreation of the grand stair case.

In the begining of the museum you get a boarding ticket and this helps you

find out in the end whether you survived or not( I survived and so did Ashley!).

Although it was sad at some points, I would highly recommend going, it was a very nice experience.

Socks

There comfortable,

they keep your toes warm,

& there super cute.

I just bought a new pair of over the knee socks

that im in love with (pic 2).

I have no clue how im going to wear them yet

but with the pictures I saw on LookBook,

they would look great with dresses & shorts.

Considering that its getting cold out,

I think these socks will convince me to still wear

some of my dresses in the fall.

I love it when it rains

It's a perfect time to just stay at home,

have a cup of tea, listen to music and

catch up on some reading.

I listened to Fever Ray's self titled album and a little bit of Grizzly Bear.

On Monday Ashley and I went to see the Kings of Leon.

They played my favorite song 'knocked up' towards

the end and that was basically my highlight of the night.

Well its getting pretty late and i'm very tired
